Filter grayed out

I have an image I want to round the corners on. It's an RGB, single layer picture. But the option is grayed out under Filters. Is there something I need to do that I'm missing. I've used the filter before so I don't know why it's doing this now.

Try adding an alpha channel to the layer (Layer/Transparency/Add alpha
channel). Of course, you must then save the picture in a format that
supports transparency (PNG...)
