I've just installed 2.2.6, on Windows XP SP1, and am having big
problems when operating on jpegs. For instance, I do the following: - open a jpge file - select the "paint using patterns or image regions tool" - try to add a splodge of the default Pine pattern. The GIMP then crashes. After it crashes script-fu.exe is still running and has to be killed by hand. The message says "gimp-2.2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I click for more details, and get the following error signature: AppName: gimp-2.2.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: icm32.dll ModVer: 5.0.0.0 Offset: 00003b04 Has anyone encountered this, or have any bright ideas? This is a common problem. See here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300186 It seems that Comment #40 is resolving this issue for most people (it did for me). Download the new exif library and replace yours, and you should be good to go. Thanks. I had already tried this, with no effect. And my problem seems
to be different: I can open jpegs, and have even done some things to them (cropping seems to work). But I can't seem to do other things. I've been looking into this a bit more and it's definitely not the
usual jpeg problem. First, as I said before, that fix has no effect. Second, it turns out that the crashing happens with formats other than jpeg. And I can do the following: Open a new file. Do some a couple of randow swipes with the paint tool. Save it. And it crashes during the save, with the same error report. Is it a black box hat appears?
if yes, then just minimise it and keep working --- Louise Pryor <[hidden email]> wrote: > I've been looking into this a bit more and it's > definitely not the > usual jpeg problem.
